- The CBIC for trade facilitation and the ease of doing business has been enabling extension of the facility Customs clearance to Inland Container Depots (ICDs) across the country.
- The Board advises all the Pr. Chief / Chief Commissioners to consider having the ICDs within their jurisdictions designated with extended facility of Customs clearance beyond normal working hours by either extending working for all seven days of week or specified days or 24x7 basis.
- There are certain aspects which is to be considered to designate an Inland Container Depots such as trade associations, volume of regular imports and exports, nature of import/export commodities, participation of other agencies or entities concerned/involved, importers-exporters, customs brokers. If it is decided to designate and ICD then that Zone must ensure adequate resources to provide the extended facility.
