Key Pointers –
- The DGFT has introduced an automated system for issuing Status Holder Certificates (SHC) to exporters. This system eliminates the need for exporters to file applications manually.
- Exporters will be categorized into five status categories based on their export performance data from EDI, non-EDI Ports, and SEZ ports, aligning with the eligibility criteria in the Foreign Trade Policy 2023.
- The new system relies on export data available in the DGCI&S database, replacing the previous requirement of submitting an application along with supporting documents from a Chartered Accountant.
- The e-SHC will be generated automatically by the IT system and will be sent to the exporter's registered email and their customer dashboard on the DGFT portal. This process will be completed by August 15th each year, utilizing export data from the preceding financial years and the current financial year up to June.
- Status Holder Certificates from FTP 2015-20 valid until Sep 30, 2023. IEC holders wanting FTP 2023 certificates must apply online to respective DGFT RAs if not covered automatically, per HBP 2023 para 1.08.
