GST – GSTIN has activated geocoding functionality for the "Additional Place of Business" address across all States and Union Territories
Key Pointers –
- GSTN has activated geocoding functionality for "Additional Place of Business" addresses nationwide, complementing the existing functionality for the principal place of business, which has been operational since February 2023.
- Over 2.05 crore addresses have been geocoded for both principal and additional places of business by GSTN. All new addresses have been geocoded since March 2022, ensuring accuracy and standardization from the outset.
- Access the feature through Services >> Registration >> Geocoding Business Addresses on the FO portal. The system provides a system-generated geocoded address, which can be accepted or modified as needed. If a system-generated address is unavailable, you can input the geocoded address directly. Saved geocoded address details are accessible under the "Geocoded Places of Business" tab, found in My Profile >> Geocoded Places of Business.
- This is a one-time submission activity; address revisions after submission are not allowed. Taxpayers who have already geocoded their addresses through new registration or core amendment do not need to do it again, as their address will be displayed as geocoded on the GST portal. Previous saved addresses remain unaffected.
- This feature is accessible to normal, composition, SEZ units, SEZ developers, ISD and casual taxpayers whether they are active, canceled, or suspended.
