GST - Government has issued a series of notifications giving effect to the decisions taken in the recent 56th GST Council meeting - Covering revisions in GST rates, exemptions, and clarifications across multiple goods and services [Notifications attached]


On September 17, 2025, the government issued a series of notifications to amend the GST rate schedule for various goods and services. These amendments follow the recommendations made during the 56th GST Council meeting. The notifications aim to revise GST rates, provide exemptions, and clarify the tax implications across different sectors.
Among the issued notifications, Notification 17/2025 seeks to amend a prior notification from June 28, 2017, while Notification 16/2025 targets changes to another notification from the same date, aligning with the recent council's recommendations. Additionally, Notification 15/2025 also makes amendments to a June 2017 notification to implement the council's suggestions.
Furthermore, Notification 14/2025 specifically addresses the GST rate applicable to bricks, indicating a targeted approach to particular goods. Notifications 13/2025 and 12/2025 amend earlier notifications from July 2018 and January 2018, respectively, ensuring that the tax rates and clarifications are up-to-date.
Other notifications, such as 11/2025, 10/2025, and 09/2025, either amend or supersede older notifications from June 2017. These changes reflect a comprehensive effort by the government to streamline and update the GST framework in line with contemporary economic needs and council directives.
